Here are the answers to some of the most common questions we get asked on a regular basis. If the information given below, doesn't answer your particular question, please don't hesitate to contact us and we will be glad to help you.

What would happen if I had an emergency while I was away?

NST operate a 24-hour emergency service with a member of our staff always on call. All group leaders are given an emergency contact number and can be assured of our rapid response.

Is NST a member of the Schools Travel Forum?

NST are a founding member of the Schools Travel Forum and we now offer our group leaders the added peace of mind from our new status as an assured member of the STF.

Is money paid to NST secure?

NST is FULLY bonded with the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), this means that your financial arrangements are completely secure. We strongly advise that Group Leaders request details of ABTA bonding from course providers before committing any money and/or school funds. For groups travelling by air we are also ATOL bonded ensuring that your monies are also protected by the Civil Aviation Authority.

What about Insurance?

NST include comprehensive travel insurance, specially designed for groups, in the price you will be quoted, unless specifically advised otherwise. Full details of our travel insurance policy are available on request.

Do teachers get free places?

NST offer a generous free place ratio for staff. This ratio differs dependent upon whether you are travelling by coach or air. If you would like to know more about free places please contact us.

Do NST offer an early booking discount?

Yes. For groups booking well in advance NST offer advantageous early booking discounts. Booking in advance will also help secure your preferred travel dates and accommodation ahead of other groups. We strongly recommend you do this wherever possible. Please contact us for more details.

Do NST offer a large group discount?

Yes. If you have a large group of 42 or more paying passengers, please ask about our discounts. Available on selected destinations.

When do I have to pay the deposits by?

The first deposits are paid on booking and are £30 per paying person for coach tours and £60-80 per paying person for air tours. The second payment is made 8 weeks after booking and are £0-60 per paying person for coach tours and £60-80 per paying person for air tours, with the balance to be received by NST 10 weeks before departure date.

Do we have to pay extra for a collective passport?

The cost of a collective passport, where applicable and accepted by the country to be visited, is included within the price. A maximum of 50 people (under 18 years only) can travel on a collective passport and it must be arranged directly by the group leaders.

What if my group is smaller than the minimum group size?

If you have a small group, don’t worry. We can still make arrangements for you. Although the minimum number for which we quote our standard tour prices is indicated on the price pages of our brochure, we can frequently quote prices for smaller groups as small as 10 persons. Please ask us for details on small group travel arrangements.

Do the prices include admission fees?

No, in the majority of cases the admission fees are not included in our prices. We will make it clear on our quotations which fees are included and which are not.

Who do I make my cheque payable to?

All cheques are made payable to NST.

Are Executive Coaches available?

NST offer both standard and executive coaches. Our executive coaches include: reclining seats, toilet, video and air-conditioning.

Do the coaches all have seatbelts?

All UK coaches will be fitted with seatbelts, however, due to different legislation in countries outside the UK, this may not be possible if a non-UK coach is supplied. Please ask us for more details.

Can we travel by Eurostar?

Yes, NST offer excellent rates for travel by Eurostar to selected destinations in Europe.

Can we travel by North Sea Ferries?

Yes. For schools and colleges located in Northern counties and in Scotland, North Sea Ferries offer an excellent alternative to crossing from southern ports. Please contact us for details and prices.

What standard is the accommodation that NST offer?

NST offer school groups a unrivalled choice of accommodation that has been specially selected at each of our destinations. We will recommend accommodation to suit your needs and your budgets.

Will we have use of the coach during our stay?

Yes, you will have use of your coach during your tour (subject to EU driving regulations).

How do NST assist with organising our trip?

Once you have made your no obligation provisional booking with NST, our experienced and friendly team will provide:

  • Comprehensive general information and recommended visits for your proposed destination(s),
  • Advice and assistance to help you select either a published “inclusive” tour or an “open itinerary” tour where the tour can be tailor made to your exact requirements.
  • Full accommodation details
  • Advice for budgeting
  • Assistance with excursion planning recommendations and the pre-booking of visits
  • A detailed written specification of all arrangements, prices and payment schedules, with no hidden extras!

What literature do you provide before travelling?

Every group will receive a free copy of Demystifying Risk Assessments, an information pack(s), a large colourful poster with space to advertise your tour, a powerpoint presentation on CD (currently for selected destinations only) and if required NST student savings cards.

Do NST provide study aids?

NST can provide free study resources (subject to destination) for your group.

Do you offer language tuition?

Yes, we are able to offer language tuition in the majority of our German and French language destinations. Please contact us for more details.

Can I create my own itinerary?

We understand that every group organiser has individual requirements and sometimes you may prefer to create your own itinerary. If you wish to do this, please contact us for details on what services NST can offer you to support you in this process and for prices on your transport and accommodation arrangements.

Do you provide guides?

Where applicable, we can arrange for local guides and other guided tours at your destination. Please contact us for more details.

Do you cater for special needs and disabled clients?
